Is Vinpearl Land worth the price in Nha Trang?
Worth it for families with kids, not for solo/couples. Day pass: 950k–1.35M VND. Includes cable car, water park, aquarium, rides. The 3.3km cable car offers great bay views. Weekdays best. Book online for 10–15% off.
Vinpearl Land dominates the Nha Trang skyline. The cable car terminal — a giant lotus flower — is visible from half the city, and the cable line stretches 3.3 kilometers over water to Hon Tre island. Whether it’s worth the price depends entirely on who you’re traveling with.
What you’re paying for
Cable car ride: The 3.3km over-water cable car is one of the longest in the world. A one-way trip takes 12 minutes and offers panoramic views of Nha Trang Bay, Hon Mun island, and the mainland beaches. The gondolas are enclosed and air-conditioned. This alone is worth 200,000–300,000 VND of your ticket price.
Amusement park: Rides include an Alpine Coaster (you control the speed), a Drop Tower (100-meter freefall), a Ferris Wheel, bumper cars, roller coasters, and a 4D cinema. Most rides are imported from European manufacturers and well-maintained. Wait times: 5–15 minutes on weekdays, 30–60 minutes on weekends and holidays.
Water park: Included in your pass. Features include a wave pool, lazy river, six water slides (the “Free Fall” drops you 20 meters in 3 seconds), and a kids’ splash zone. Towel rental: 50,000 VND. Lockers: 30,000 VND per use.
Aquarium: Home to 20,000+ marine animals including sea turtles, reef sharks, stingrays, and jellyfish. The 68-meter underwater tunnel is the highlight. It’s air-conditioned (a relief at midday) and takes 30–45 minutes to walk through.
Cultural zone: A scaled-down replica of Hue’s Imperial City, Cham towers, and a stage for ethnic minority performances. Shows run at 10am, 2pm, and 4pm daily (30 minutes each). It’s touristy but entertaining if you’re there at the right time.
Who should go
Families with children (ages 4–14): This is Vinpearl’s target audience. Kids get their money’s worth in 4–5 hours. The water park alone can occupy them for half a day. Parents can alternate: one rides with kids, the other waits in the shade.
Couples without kids: Probably not worth it unless you’re theme park enthusiasts. The rides are geared toward families, not thrill-seekers. The cable car ride is romantic at sunset, but you can’t do round-trip just for views (you must exit through the turnstiles).
Solo travelers: Skip it. You’ll spend 1.2 million VND for rides you can experience faster at smaller parks, and you’ll be surrounded by screaming children.
Photographers: The cable car at golden hour (4–6pm) offers stunning shots of the bay. But you’ll need a full-day pass to catch both entry and exit in good light.
When to go
Weekdays vs. weekends: Vietnamese schools let out at 4pm on weekdays, so local families arrive en masse from 4–6pm. Weekends and holidays are packed all day. Go on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning for the lightest crowds.
Time of day: Arrive at 8:30am when the park opens. You’ll have 2–3 hours before the crowds arrive. Hit the Alpine Coaster and water slides first (shortest lines), then do the aquarium and cultural shows.
Season: Dry season (Feb–Aug) means clear cable car views. Rainy season (Sep–Nov) brings fog and occasional cable car suspensions during storms. Check the forecast before booking.
How to save money
Book online: Klook, GetYourGuide, and Vinpearl’s own website offer 10–15% discounts for advance booking. Prices: 1,150,000–1,200,000 VND for adults, 750,000–800,000 VND for children.
Combo tickets: Some hotels sell “Vinpearl packages” including cable car + lunch buffet for 1,500,000 VND. It’s not cheaper than booking separately, but it’s convenient.
Bring your own food: Outside food is technically not allowed, but enforcement is lax. Slip a sandwich and water bottle into your bag. On-island food costs 2–3x mainland prices (pho: 80,000 VND, beer: 50,000 VND).
Skip the locker: If you’re doing rides first, leave bags in your hotel. Most rides have small pouches for phones. For the water park, rent a locker (30,000 VND) — it’s cheaper than losing your phone.
What’s not included
- Food and drinks: Expect 80,000–150,000 VND per meal. Buffet lunch: 250,000 VND.
- Arcade games: Token machines require 10,000–20,000 VND per play.
- Souvenirs: Photo packages, stuffed animals, and keychains are priced at international theme park levels.
- Transportation: The cable car terminal is 4km from most hotels. Taxi: 50,000–70,000 VND each way.
The verdict
Worth it if: You have kids ages 4–14, you’re a theme park enthusiast, or you want the cable car experience plus a full day of activities.
Skip it if: You’re a solo traveler, a couple without kids, or you’re on a tight budget. Take a boat to Hon Mun or Hon Tằm instead — you’ll spend half as much and see real islands.
Middle ground: If you just want the cable car views, book a lunch reservation at one of the island’s restaurants (some offer cable car tickets bundled with meals). It’s cheaper than a full day pass.
