How do I get from Quy Nhon to Phu Yen?
Train is the simplest option: departs from Dieu Tri station (not central Quy Nhon — it's 10km outside town), arrives at Tuy Hoa in 1.5–2 hours. Cost: 50,000–120,000 VND. Bus from Quy Nhon city bus station takes 1.5–2 hours, 80,000–120,000 VND. Private car or Grab: about 1.5 hours, 400,000–600,000 VND total.
Quy Nhon and Tuy Hoa are the two cities that bracket Phu Yen from north and south, with Tuy Hoa at the southern end of the province. The distance is about 95 kilometers by road, and the connections are straightforward.
By train
The important detail: Quy Nhon’s main railway station is Dieu Tri, not a station in the city center. Dieu Tri is about 10 kilometers southwest of Quy Nhon, in a separate town.
To catch a train to Tuy Hoa from the Quy Nhon area:
- Get to Dieu Tri station: taxi or Grab from Quy Nhon center (15–20 minutes, 80,000–120,000 VND)
- Board a southbound SE or TN express train
- Arrive at Tuy Hoa station in 1.5 to 2 hours
Cost: 50,000–120,000 VND depending on class and train type
Frequency: Same trains that run between Nha Trang and Hanoi pass through Dieu Tri heading south. Check the Vietnam Railways schedule — not every train stops at Tuy Hoa.
By bus
From Quy Nhon city bus station (Ben Xe Quy Nhon), buses to Tuy Hoa run throughout the day. This is often more convenient than the train because:
- It departs from central Quy Nhon
- No need to travel to Dieu Tri
- Buses run frequently without advance booking needed
Journey time: 1.5–2 hours Cost: 80,000–120,000 VND Operators: Several companies run this route; Phuong Trang is a reliable option.
By private car or Grab
Journey time: Approximately 1.5 hours Cost: 400,000–600,000 VND total for the vehicle
Grab for intercity trips works between Quy Nhon and Tuy Hoa. The flexibility to stop at points along the coast — or to drive directly to Ganh Da Dia without going into Tuy Hoa city — makes this worth the extra cost if your schedule is tight.
By motorbike
95km on Highway 1A, 1.5–2 hours in good conditions. The road between Quy Nhon and Phu Yen is straightforward — mostly flat coastal road with no major passes to the north of Phu Yen (the Deo Ca pass is south of Tuy Hoa, toward Nha Trang). A relatively easy ride.
